BREEAM Version 7

BREEAM Version 7, which is set for release in early 2024, is the BRE’s latest update to its current assessment methodologies which will focus on updating whole life carbon and energy credits. This latest update will apply to New Construction, In-Use and Refurbishment and Fit-Out schemes.

With V7 you can expect features that enhance tracking towards net zero Carbon, bolster whole-life carbon performance measurement, apply embodied carbon and operational energy benchmarks, identify and address performance gaps through the building’s lifecycle, understand alignment with decarbonisation pathways, and prepare for the forthcoming BREEAM Net Zero module (due post V7).

BREEAM Version 7 will also report against established net zero carbon trajectories such as the Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor (CRREM) to help asset owners manage the carbon risk from their operational energy.

If you have any queries as to how these changes may impact your assessments please contact a member of our experienced team, who will be happy to discuss.
