From the 4th – 6th of September Nairobi hosted the Africa Climate Summit & Africa Climate Week 2023. The theme was ‘Driving Green Growth and Climate Finance Solutions for Africa and the World’. The three-day Summit brought together leaders and investors from Africa and beyond to share experiences and solutions for a sustainable, resilient Africa. The event focused on adaptation and resilience, renewable energy and sustainable development, and financing for climate action.
Africa is acutely vulnerable to the growing impacts of climate change, but leaders were eager to cast the continent not as a victim but a long-ignored ally in the fight against global warming.
Organized in parallel with the African Climate Summit, Africa Climate Week is providing a platform for policymakers, practitioners, businesses and civil society to exchange on climate solutions, barriers to overcome and opportunities realized in different regions, leading to the first global stocktake concluding at COP28 in UAE in December of this year.
The Climate Week aims to inspire people and organisations to become part of the momentum, where governments and non-governmental organizations come together to address climate change issues.
