BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit Out Commercial V7 Is Here!
Wednesday 15th July 2026 marked the release of BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit Out V7 (BREEAM RFO V7). Two technical manuals and a summary of changes have been released to licensed assessors with registrations to open shortly on the BREEAM platform. Once registrations open, there will be a three-month grace period where RFO projects can either register on the new V7 methodology or the old 2014 methodology. A key change is that there will now be two technical manuals, BREEAM Refurbishment V7 and BREEAM Fit Out V7. Approved Document O – Government announces a full review of overheating regulations
The UK government has confirmed that it will be undertaking a comprehensive review of Approved Document O, the regulations designed to mitigate overheating risks in new buildings. This comes after receiving feedback from the housing and construction industry. Part O was originally introduced in 2021 and incorporated into the Future Homes Standard consultation; Part O has been embraced for addressing the growing issues of overheating in residential buildings. However, some issues have been raised regarding complexity, clarity and consistency, as well as the practical application of the Simplified Method. Key issues were raised during the review, such as effectiveness of ventilation strategies, building fabric and orientation, challenges with dynamic thermal modelling, security concerns linked to night time ventilation and the
BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit Out Commercial V7 Is On The Way!
The BRE have recently announced that the long anticipated BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit Out Commercial V7 (RFO V7) will be released on Wednesday15th July 2026. The release aims to align with BREEAM New Construction V7, released towards the end of 2025, to further drive the sustainability performance of developments beyond building regulations. RFO V7 seeks to: The new RFO V7 technical manual will be released on 15th July providing further insight into any new technical standards and changes compared to the existing RFO 2014. Scheme registrations will open following this enabling project teams to begin registering projects under BREEAM RFO V7. Wonderful News: Congratulations to Stacey on Her New Arrival!!!
We’re delighted to share that Stacey, our Associate Sustainability Consultant, and her partner Zach have welcomed their second child into the world, a beautiful baby girl named Isla Wren. Both mum and baby are doing well, and Stacey’s family is over the moon as they settle into life as a family of four. Today is Earth Day 2026, this is the 56th anniversary since the first Earth Day in 1970. Earth Day is an international day which draws attention to the environment and promotes sustainability. It is estimated that around 1 billion people globally take part in Earth Day by raising awareness through organised events and other methods of participation. The theme for Earth Day this year is ‘Our power, our planet’ highlighting that environmental progress can’t be achieved by a single administration or election, it relies on daily actions collectively.
