Re-development of an iconic Manchester building – The Toast Rack

We are pleased to announce that Element Sustainability has been appointed to provide sustainability consultancy services for one of Manchester’s most iconic buildings, The Toast Rack at Hollings Campus, Fallowfield.

Our service provision includes energy assessment services, BREEAM consultancy and the appraisal of the environmental credentials of the proposed development.

The proposals include the refurbishment and re-use of the 1960s Grade II listed Hollings Park Campus buildings into a mixed use scheme comprising a total of two hundred and ten residential dwellings, 650m2 of retail space and 1,858m2 of gymnasium and leisure facilities.  The refurbished buildings will be supplemented by a new residential tower at the gateway to the site.

In response to Manchester City’s Core Strategy and Guide to Development, an Environmental Standards Statement has been prepared including:

  •  Energy strategy and energy demand calculations;
  •  A holistic appraisal of the environmental credentials of the proposed development;
  •  A BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment strategy to achieve BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating for the refurbished residential apartments; and,
  •  BREEAM Non-Domestic Refurbishment and Fit-Out strategy to achieve BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating for the retail and gymnasium accomodation.

Element Sustainability will work closely with the design team and provide support and advice as the project progresses through to completion.
