New Instruction – BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment Princess Street

Element Sustainability has been appointed by a commercial and residential building contractor, Beech Construction Partnership, to provide BREEAM consultancy services for their latest scheme at Princess Street, Manchester. The Princess Street development will convert an existing commercial building into thirty six apartments, arranged over four floors above ground floor commercial areas.

The target BREEAM rating implemented by Manchester City Council’s planning policies is BREEAM ‘Excellent’. This rating broadly represents a performance equivalent to the top 10% of domestic refurbishments in the UK. Beech Construction Partnership have aspirations to go beyond this planning requirement and achieve a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating, subjecting the development to a more stringent sustainability performance criteria. This performance level would equates to the top 1% of domestic refurbishments in the UK.

Element Sustainability will work closely with the design team and provide support and advice on how best to achieve the requisite BREEAM rating.
