Innovation Hub is Very Good!

We are pleased to confirm that Sky’s new Innovation Hub in Brentwood has been BREEAM certified, achieving a ‘Very Good’ rating in accordance with Sky UK’s in-house target. The scheme comprised the major refurbishment of a twenty-year-old building.

The project has been assessed using the 2014 BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit-out assessment methodology by our BREEAM assessor who applied their knowledge and experience to ensure compliance.

Element Sustainability also provided a package of supplementary services to inform the BREEAM Assessment and demonstrate the sustainable credentials the of the scheme for the building users. These services were as follows:

  • Completion of a thermal comfort study,
  • Preparation of an indoor air quality plan;
  • Daylight factor calculations;
  • Travel plan;
  • Passive design analysis;
  • Functional adaptability study; and,
  • Acoustic performance review and testing for internal and the external environment.

In addition to the BREEAM assessment services, we managed the Single-Use Plastic Monitoring and Reduction scheme. This scheme aims to reduce the project’s impact on the environment in line with Sky’s Sustainability Guidelines and Ocean Rescue aspirations of becoming Single-Use Plastic free by 2020.
