New Instruction – Carbon Budget Statement

Element Sustainability has been appointed by chartered town planning and development consultancy, Paul Butler Associates to provide a Carbon Budget Statement. This will support the detailed planning application for the proposed scheme at Alexandra House, Altrincham. The scheme will include the demolition of the existing structures at the site and the construction of forty one new dwellings, comprising both houses and apartments.

Trafford Council’s local development framework requires new developments to mitigate and reduce its impact on climate change factors. The Carbon Budget Statement will review the Council’s planning policies and outline the measures to be implemented to ensure the proposed development reduces its CO2 emissions. The proposed development site falls outside of the Altrincham Low Carbon Growth Area; the 5% CO2 reduction target above current Building Regulations is therefore applicable.

Energy calculations will be completed to enable the technical team to establish a feasible and viable means of significantly reducing the dwelling’s carbon dioxide emission rate in accordance with local planning policy targets.
