British Car Auction

Element Sustainability are excited to be involved in the proposed recent expansion plans for the British Car Auction PLC, which is the UK’s and Europe’s largest used car marketplace. We have been instructed to provide energy assessment and compliance services for their proposed new site at Belle Vue in Manchester and energy and BREEAM assessment services for and their site in Bedford, Bedfordshire.

Energy Assessment Services –

Our Inhouse Energy Assessor will work with the design team to carry out a desk-based assessment of the proposed ‘building fabric’ and M&E systems to determine the SBEM calculations as required to meet ‘Design Stage’ and ‘As Built’ stage reporting for both sites. Upon completion of the proposed buildings ‘As Built Stage’, Part L2A BRUKL and EPC reports will be provided.

The following requirements are applicable to the two sites and will be demonstrated through the SBEM calculations:

  • Compliance with Part L2A (2013) of building regulations for the Belle Vue, Manchester development; and,
  • The Bedford development has a planning requirement of a 10% emissions reduction beyond Part L2A of building regulations.

BREEAM Assessment Services –

Our licensed BREEAM assessor has already started to work with the design team for the Bedford site to discuss the proposals and determine the preferred and most cost-effective way for the development to achieve the required BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.
